Solo exhibition at the Picture Room

The paintings depict photographs of items for sale on secondhand marketplace listings. The vernacular of this virtual collection of objects, poses, lighting, details and abstractions contains collective and specific meanings that meet along vectors of desire and value. Through these paintings, Shapton attempts to reroute and appreciate their conventions, and the transmission of recognition and seduction.
